You don’t have to go all the way to Europe to experience the French countryside. Colmar Tropicale, a French-themed resort is about an hour away from Kuala Lumpur. Some of my friends are asking how to get there so I decided to add it to my travel blog since to most people, this is quite unheard of.
Going to Bukit Tinggi:
This is by far, the most spontaneous trip I’ve had. Because I wanted to make use of the forced leave, we’ve booked flights from SG to KL a day before (thank goodness for budget airlines such as Air Asia haha).
Air Asia is at KL’s budget terminal so it’s convenient to book for a shuttle ride from airport to city at the same time the flights are booked.
Shuttle will drop off at KL Sentral. From there, head to Berjaya Times Square (convenient to take taxi if you’re not travelling alone since it’s not far), where you can buy tickets for the van which goes to Bukit Tinggi. Colmar Tropicale office is at the 8th floor — look for The Chateau/The Taaras.
Shuttle Schedule: 10am, 1pm and 5pm
One way Fare: RM35; Return Fare: RM55

Unfortunately, we came on a Sunday and the office was closed. Normally, the van would still be outside the mall on the scheduled time, but for some reasons, it didn’t arrive so we had to take a taxi which costs a bit expensive.
A room at Colmar Tropicale would cost S$88 (it could accommodate 2 persons). Make sure to request for a room with a good view, i.e. overlooking the village — it’s very pretty when it lights up at night.
Hotel booking would include buffet breakfast which is open until 10am. We strategically came almost 10am in order for it to be considered as ‘brunch’ haha!

Inside the resort, you can go for a swim, treat yourself to a spa, watch dance performances by dazzling French ladies. There are other activities outside the village such as rock climbing, paintball, golf, mountain biking. You can also wander around the beautiful Japanese village and botanical garden. There is a shuttle that takes you to your preferred venue and drops you back at the resort every hour.

Going back to Singapore, we took a bus from Berjaya Times Square. Note that it is way cheaper to purchase bus tickets from Malaysia (costs about S$17). It would be advisable though to purchase in advance — we usually buy tickets on the day that we arrive KL.
